For traveling long distances from island to island, two major choices are up when it comes to the mode of travel: One can go by air and fly on a plane or he can travel by the sea and board a ship. Choosing between the two should not be based merely on blind whim; an informed decision must be made.
Aside from teleportation, riding an airplane is the second fastest mode of travel ever conceived by man. And since teleportation is not yet possible, flying is the travel mode for those who are in a hurry. For business trips that require one to get somewhere the fastest possible way or for extremely busy people who cannot afford to lose a lot of time on the journey. The notion of flying also presents great attraction to first time flyers. Some are actually afraid of flying because plane crashes have very high casualties; however, one must keep in mind that pane crashes happen more rarely than accidents on the sea.
Going on a cruise is the mode of travel of people who have time enough to enjoy the whole length of a vacation. Much can be done aboard, as long as you get over the urge of simply staring out at the sea or watching the sunrise or sunset. It also provides an opportunity for travelers to meet other people. Another obvious reason why one would opt to go on a ship is that they have fear of flying since accidents that do happen on sea have a higher possibility for rescue.
Based on the travel conditions, on your budget and other personal considerations- much like the destinations, the possibilities for travel are endless.
