When people are asked whether they prefer to travel by air or by sea, a majority would say that they prefer to travel by sea. This choice is backed-up by several reasons: they may want to enjoy a luxury cruise while journeying from one place to another or they may wish to enjoy the scenic views. However, the most prevalent motivation for opting to go by sea would be that most of them have a fear of flying. They prefer to go on a ship because they deem it to be the safer choice when it comes to long distance traveling. True enough, mortality rates are way higher for plane crashes and other airplane accidents which usually count up to 90% or higher while victims of sea vessel accident have a higher chance of being rescued. All this doesn’t mean that riding on ships are a hundred safe and that one may simply put a step back in being vigilant for one’s safety. Here are some tips and things to consider in traveling by sea:
Put your life and those of the ones you love in the hands of a company you trust. Do not ever compromise with this. Most often, the popular shipping companies provide the most comfortable and safe traveling experience.
Keep a close watch on all your family members and all your baggage. Try to be as sober as possible during the whole trip and mingle only with a trust-worthy crowd.
Be well informed about the emergency exits and procedures of the ship.
